  • MIDSOUTH SUPERINTENDENT

    Josef Rasheed is the Interim Midsouth Superintendent for the Evangelical Covenant Church. Josef planted CrossRoads Covenant Church, DeSoto, TX and served as Lead Pastor for 20 years. He also served as the Africa Regional Coordinator in Serve Globally for 9 years. He earned his Th. M. degree from Dallas Theological Seminary. He is an accomplished musician and great smoothie maker. Josef is married to his beautiful wife, Rochelle. They are blessed with 6 children and 10 grandchildren.

  • DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS

    Nancy is a licensed pastor with the ECC and has been on staff at Restoration Covenant Church in Round Rock, TX for 23 years. Nancy is very committed to supporting the clergy and churches of the Midsouth. She also loves youth ministry and is one of the Trainers for the Counselors in Leadership Training (CILT) Program at Midsouth Camp. Nancy & husband James love to travel with their 3 adult children, son in law and 3 grandchildren.

  • OFFICE ADMIN

    Raised in Dallas, Texas, Nia is a devoted wife and mother of three. She serves as a young adult leader at Crossroads Covenant Church, where she is passionate about helping others grow and connect. Alongside her ministry work, she enjoys branding and web design, using her creativity to bring ideas to life with clarity and purpose.

  • MIDSOUTH CAMP DIRECTOR

    Rev. Dale Lusk is a full-time staff member with Serve Globally of the Evangelical Covenant Church, the director of camping for the Midsouth Conference and on staff with the conference. He is married to Sara, and has two children, Sawyer and Collette. Dale has lived in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas for over 32 years. Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, Dale is a big fan of all things San Fran (and San Jose). He has traveled to over 70 countries on mission. If you want to get on his good side, take him to a Thai restaurant.

  • CAMP REGISTRAR

    Raised in a Navy family, Kim spent her childhood moving across the U.S., learning adaptability and the value of strong community. She met her husband, Tim, in college, and together they raised two daughters and moved to Arkansas in 2005 to help start a ministry. For 19 years, they have been part of Celebrate Recovery, where God has brought healing to her hurts, hang-ups, and habits, and where she now serves in leadership and sponsorship. After her daughters graduated college, Kim returned to school to pursue nursing and now works as an in-house nurse reviewing medical care for injured Walmart employees.

  • DIRECTOR OF HISPANIC MINISTRIES

    Rev. Allan Serrano is an ordained minister with the ECC, originally from Honduras, and currently serves as Director of Hispanic Ministries for the MSC, while also volunteering as the founder and Executive Director of Aviva Ekklesia, a Church Planting and Revitalization School. He received his ministerial training at Shalom Bible Seminary in Honduras and completed the ministerial program at CHET (Christian Center for Theological Studies) in Hampton, California. Allan and his wife, Luz, have been married for 28 years, live in Kingwood, Texas, have three sons, and he enjoys fishing in his free time.

  • ECC Bookeeper

    Kathy Soderholm is the Conference Bookkeeper.  She has been married to her high school sweetheart for 40 years and is the mother of three and grandmother of four.  She and her husband divide their time between Connecticut, Florida, and Maine.  They have been devoted members of the Evangelical Covenant Church for over 30 years.  Kathy has built a diverse professional life with careers as an auditor, teacher, accountant, and since 2019, the founder of The Good Bookkeeper, a business providing full service bookkeeping services to churches and non-profit organizations.  Kathy treasures opportunities to serve and connect, bringing warmth, experience, and dedication to every church community and conference she serves.

MSC Board

  • Flint Barnes is currently Chair of both Bethel Bible Fellowship and the Midsouth

    Conference of the Evangelical Covenant Church (ECC). Flint joined Bethel 25+ years

    ago and has served as Chair for 10+ years. Along the way he taught Children’s Church

    and served as Finance Committee Chair. Flint joined the Midsouth Board in 2021; and

    served on the finance committee before becoming Chair in 2025.

    Flint retired from business life in December of 2024 after 37 years with Coca-Cola North

    America holding various leadership positions. He is married to Carla (39 years) and has

    two grown sons…Anwar (31) and Nyal (29). Flint enjoys sports, watching crime shows

    and traveling.

  • Dan is a life-long Covenanter having grown up in and attended Covenant churches in Washington, California and Texas. Dan and his wife, Kris, met at North Park College in 1979 and have been married since 1983. They have lived in Texas since 1986 and became charter members of Champions/Hope Covenant Church in Houston at that time. Dan retired from the FBI in 2018 at which time he and Kris moved to the east Texas Piney Woods. They have four adult children and five grandchildren.

  • Julie grew up in California and has lived in Carrollton, Texas for 32 years. She has been married to Ron for 45 years and has four children, four children-in-love, and twelve grandchildren.

    A lifelong Covenanter, the church has been central to her faith through years of learning, serving, and growing. A retired teacher, she is passionate about children’s ministry and using her gifts to serve. In her free time, she enjoys reading, needlework, and traveling.

  • Juanita Hernandez-Garcia is married to Pastor Ernesto Garcia, and together they serve at Iglesia Evangélica Misionera del Pacto in La Villa, Texas. She is an experienced educator with 26 years of teaching experience and currently serves students with dyslexia. Juanita and her husband have a 13-year-old daughter, Deborah, and she enjoys spending time with her family and walking outdoors while taking in beautiful sunsets.

  • TREASURER ON THE EXECUTIVE BOARD

    David Tien serves as the Treasurer on the Executive Board of the Midsouth Conference and is also a member of the ECC Board of Pensions and Benefits. He and his family attend Access in the Houston area, where he previously served on the leadership team for 13 years following its launch.

     

    David is married to Julie and they have two adult sons.  He and his family have a passion for baseball and have attended games in 28 major league parks in the U.S. and Japan.

MSC Ministerium

  • I’ve spent more than 40 years in pastoral ministry and the last 20 years leading Bethel Bible Fellowship in Carrollton, Texas.  As a Licensed Professional Counselor, I help people find hope and healing in my private practice. My family—four sons, their wonderful wives, and four fantastic grandchildren—are my greatest joy. Though I am a widow, their love inspires me every day. In my spare time, I capture life’s beauty through portrait photography, celebrating the unique spirit of everyone I meet.

  • Rev. Cindy M. Wu is co-founder and Director of Diaspora Ministries of Mosaic Formation; she also serves as Co-director of The Diaspora Network. As a “pastor to pastors,” her ministry focuses on serving leaders of underserved communities. Cindy is author or co-author of publications on global Christian identity, religious demography, and refugee welcome; she also dabbles in poetry (visit cindymwu.com). She currently pursuing a Doctor of Ministry at Baylor University’s Truett Seminary. For fun, she enjoys cycling, reading, and exploring global cuisine.

  • I serve as Pastor of Redeemer Covenant Church in Carrollton, Texas.   I am originally from Seattle, Washington and will take any opportunity to sneak back "home" when I can.  I am married to Jessica, a mental health counselor, and we have three children.   I love to read, travel, and run 5ks in my free time.
